Evelyn Perry was the tenth person in the UK to learn to fly. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Flying Corps at the outbreak of war and was killed in a flying accident on 16 August, 1914. He took off from Amiens in a BE8, number 625, rose to the height of 150 feet before stalling and crashing.
